Fall Events Happening on Nantucket

November 25, 2025

Fall on Nantucket is a special time of year. As the summer crowds fade, familiar faces return, and the island settles into a cozy rhythm filled with community traditions. Whether you're a year-round resident or visiting for the season (or a weekend!), there are plenty of fun fall activities for families and friends to enjoy. Here are a few highlights you won’t want to miss:

November 22: Nantucket Holiday Farmers & Artisans Market

If you loved the Farmers Market every Saturday this summer, you’ll be thrilled for the first-ever Holiday Farmers & Artisans Market. Held on Cambridge and North Union Streets from 9 AM to 1 PM, this festive market brings together local makers, fresh seasonal goods, and the perfect start to your holiday shopping.

November 23: The Run for Robin 5K

The 11th Annual Run for Robin 5K honors the memory of Robin Harvey and supports the Harvey Foundation. The money raised goes toward scholarships for deserving student-athletes pursuing higher education. This event is a powerful display of community spirit and support.

November 25-29: Festival of Wreaths

One of Nantucket’s most beloved traditions, the Festival of Wreaths transforms the Nantucket Whaling Museum into a beautiful celebration of creativity. Wreaths are hand-crafted by islanders, local businesses, non-profits, and schools. Each piece is unique and showcases the heart of the community.

November 28: Nantucket Turkey Plunge

Start your Thanksgiving morning with a splash! The Turkey Plunge brings hundreds of brave participants into the icy water to raise funds for the Weezie Library for Children at the Nantucket Atheneum. The event begins at 10 AM and is as charitable as it is chilly.

November 29: Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The day after Thanksgiving, the community gathers downtown to officially kick off the holiday season. The Tree Lighting Ceremony includes caroling, warm smiles, and the magical moment when Main Street illuminates with holiday cheer.

December 5: Festival of Trees

The Whaling Museum gets a full holiday makeover with the stunning Festival of Trees. Dozens of trees decorated by local artists, businesses, non-profits, and school groups fill the museum with creativity, tradition, and joy. (Make sure to keep your eye out for Lee Real Estate’s annual tree - tag us on social media if you like this year’s creation!)

December 5: Nantucket’s 51st Christmas Stroll

A hallmark of the season, Christmas Stroll brings the island to life with festive events all day long. Santa arrives by boat, leading a parade up Main Street with the Town Crier and joyful carolers filling the air. Visitors can explore local shops and restaurants before many close for winter break, making it the perfect weekend to experience Nantucket at its most magical.

To be part of any one of these events is truly special. And if you're dreaming of making Nantucket your home for future holiday seasons, we’re here to help you find the perfect place to experience all the magic this island has to offer.
